I came up with a Giratina themed version of Volo’s Arceus outfit last year in March. I don’t dislike the original Arceus (not a fan of the hair though) but I think that Giratina just looks cooler.

I used that design in this illustration that I finished in April for Volokari week.

Okay! So, essentially yes but there’s a little more to it. Cynthia probably was named so in English (in Japanese she’s named after a flower, but 99% of important Pokémon characters are named after plants in the original Japanese, English tends to go with puns. Which I approve of) as a counter to Cyrus. Cynthia means “Moon Goddess”, Cyrus means “Sun” as well as both names starting with the same two letters.

However! Cynthia is clearly connected to Mesprit. Mesprit is the most in focus of the Lake Trio, as the being of emotion. Given that Cyrus’ whole deal is “Emotions suck! We should get rid of them!” this makes sense. Cynthia is adamant about how emotions are important, and her hair decorations are meant to evoke the shape of Mesprit’s head.

So it is possible Sentio/Sentia was thought of during the naming process. Which is indeed roughly how you would conjugate “Sentire” for present first-person. (This is where we get the word “Sentiment” from)

But it’s also possibly a happy accident, because the other two were DEFINITELY intentional.

“Voluntas” is, in fact, the Latin word for “Will” (this is where we get the word “Voluntary” from) and “Cogitare” is “Think” (where we get the word “Cogitate” from, not that anyone uses that anymore). They are very clearly named after the other two Lake Guardians.

Happy accident or not they are 100% meant to represent the Lake Trio. Cynthia’s defense of emotions, Cogita’s knowledge and Volo’s too big for his britches ambitions.

Very cute! Snakes can drink water in a more normal-looking way - but the cup setup is a little awkward, and anyway lots of snakes like to be a bit silly with it! I have several who like to drink water exclusively with their heads resting on the bottom of their water bowls!

I want to stick my entire head in a jar of water and for people to see the amount of water slowly decrease as I chug silently

A day late, but posting a story of when we first got married to celebrate our anniversary:

The thing about having an autistic husband, is as much as I love him, he just is not capable of picking up on behaviors or facial expressions and knowing what they mean. He needs me to speak the words I’m feeling.

Early on, this was a problem. When I was exhausted after work and didn’t have the emotional energy to deal with anything, I needed some time alone.

I would say “I’m tired,” get up and leave a room.

He’d follow.

I would shut a door.

He would open it, and keep talking to me.

I had to actually speak the words, “I would like a little bit of space for a while.”

And then he would say, “Oh.” In a sad voice.

And then I’d feel like an asshole, because he always seemed so sad when I did that. I didn’t want to hurt him. I loved him, and I thought I was a bad wife for wanting time for myself. Things were not good.

One day, I came home, and on my desk was a card, laminated. It was simple, black text on white background, in 36-point font. It said:

I love you. Fuck off.

And he took my hands and said the reason he was sad wasn’t that I needed space— he needs his sometimes too, but I pick up the signals and leave him alone.

He felt bad that he couldn’t understand me, and I always looked so uncomfortable and guilty when I told him.

So now I have a card that I can hand to him, any time, and he will understand and go away for an hour and nobody feels guilty.

I’m having a lot of fun in the Reed event by abusing his level 3 module. He’s just sitting there forced to stamp out the fires, taking burn damage, arts damage, and long range bombardment from the canoneers, and then one guy comes too close and disappears in a flash of +130 ASPD attacks and Hellagur heals back 2/3rds his HP
